3k ATV Track

Track Construction

Wednesday, 22 June 2011 12:05

A 3k Argo track has just been completed on a highland estate. The new line was taken to avoid the old boggy, visable track which was eroding rapidly due to ongoing widening line taken by Argos and ATVs. The new line was built uninterrupting the natural drainage so avoiding constant ditching, and installing more frequent culvert pipes. The reinstatement of the ground and track foundation was constructed to a high quality.

McGowan Outdoor Access were contracted to repair and construct an eroding ATV track in a highly designated area within an SAC and Natura site on a highland estate. Conditions from SNH meant only the worst sections were capped with aggregate and drier, harder sections were left untouched.

Only necessary drainage was installed and the natural drainage was interfered as little as possible. MOA worked closely with the client to find a balance between loss of habitat and constructed sections preventing erosion.
